CERTIFICATED POSITION

 

JOB TITLE:  K-8 Intervention Teacher

DESCRIPTION OF BASIC FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

The Intervention Teacher provides support to students eligible for services in the area of Intervention. The Intervention Teacher works collaboratively with classroom teachers and uses a variety of current research-based instructional strategies designed to meet the needs of low-achieving students. The Intervention Teacher implements, monitors, and evaluates progress of students using research based interventions; provides district/state adopted intervention programs to targeted students, implements a variety of District approved supplemental programs for targeted students. Compiles data as evidence of effectiveness for intervention programs and disseminates this evidence to site administrators and teachers as needed.

EXAMPLES OF DUTIES:

  1. Provide initial assessments which may include universal screenings
  2. Progress monitor intervention student to determine growth, mastery, and needs
  3. Evaluates each student’s progress and growth in the course being taught, keeps appropriate records, and prepares progress reports 
  4. Use data to inform practice: analyze formal and informal student assessment results, and use this information to drive and inform instruction
  5. Participation in the analysis of District and State assessment data for the purpose of guiding instruction and intervention programs
  6. Compile and disseminate data as evidence of effectiveness of intervention programs
  7. Provide individual and small group instruction designed to meet individual needs and motivate students in pull out and/or classroom setting
  8. Provide students with direct intervention support services that promote mastery of ELA and Math
  9. Identify pupils’ needs and work with other staff members to develop solutions to meet these needs 
  10. Make daily class lesson plans designed to meet the needs of all students
  11. Utilize research based practices and instruction to design, implement, monitor, and evaluate intervention programs created to meet targeted students’ needs
  12. Provide a classroom environment which stimulates interest in learning
  13. Establish and maintain standards of student behavior needed to provide an orderly, productive classroom environment
  14. Plan collaboratively with classroom teachers to provide effective instructional intervention programs aligned to the core curriculum and targeted to meet individual student needs
  15. Keep teachers, staff, and parents informed regarding the status of students’ progress in intervention
  16. Participate in Student Study Team meetings to assist in coordination of intervention services for students receiving intervention services
  17. Participate in curriculum and other developmental programs within the school
  18. Administer tests in accordance with District testing programs
  19. Participate in grade level team meetings and staff development sessions
  20. Maintain professional competence through participation in inservice education activities provided by the District and in voluntary self-selected professional growth activities
  21. Participate cooperatively with the principal to mutually develop the goals by which he/she will be evaluated in conformance with the District’s uniform guidelines for certificated evaluation
  22. Participate in faculty meetings and committees
  23. Perform other duties as assigned and agreed to in the Collective Bargaining Agreement
  24. Help with extracurricular activities as assigned and agreed to in the Collective Bargaining Agreement
  25. Perform basic attendance accounting and other business services as required 

QUALIFICATIONS:

 Education and Experience:

  • Appropriate California Teaching Credential authorizing service in a K-8 setting
  • EL Authorization
  • Minimum 3 years teaching experience

PHYSICAL DEMANDS OF POSITION:

  1. Ability to stand, sit, walk, twist, stoop, crouch, climb, kneel, bend over, grasp, reach overhead, push, and pull
  2. Ability to see for the purposes of reading computer screens, hand held computers or cell phone screens, manuals,

       labels and printed matter

  1. Ability to stand/walk for extended periods of time, sometime on a variety of surfaces that may be uneven
  2. Ability to hear and understand speech at normal levels
  3. Ability to communicate so others will be able to clearly understand normal conversation
  4. Ability to lift 25 pounds
  5. Ability to carry 25 pounds
  6. Ability to operate office equipment
  7. Ability to reach in all directions
  8. Ability to perform fine motor coordination
