          Summer School Geometry Teacher The Academy of Our Lady of Peace Summer School 2017: June 19-July 28 The Academy of Our Lady of Peace, a Catholic, all girls high school sponsored by the Sisters of St. Joseph of Carondelet is seeking a Geometry teacher for a six-week summer session. Under the supervision of the summer school director and department chair, the teacher will plan and implement a Geometry course program. Curriculum will strongly focus on student achievement through an accelerated instructional model. Qualifications: 1. Single Subject Teaching Credential in Mathematics required; or 2. Single Subject in any other subject with a supplementary authorization in Mathematics 3. No Child Left Behind Compliant in the area to be taught Specifications: Commitment to and demonstrated evidence of the implementation of a Mathematics program. Commitment to and demonstrated evidence of ongoing professional growth. Willingness to embrace and support the summer program at The Academy. Commitment to and demonstrated evidence of meeting the learning needs of all students. Demonstrated evidence of examining student work and utilizing data to inform instruction. Commitment to working with parents as partners in their children’s education and to using technology to stay in close communication with parents. Commitment to ongoing collaboration with other Math teachers as it pertains to the summer school curriculum. Major Duties and responsibilities Provide learning experiences and a classroom environment necessary to ensure that students meet the mathematics department’s goals and objectives as well as the goals and objectives of the assigned course of study. Provide instruction according to adopted course outlines, using appropriate course notes and suggestions from department chair and other colleagues. Provide, whenever possible, appropriate individual and small group instruction in order to adapt the curriculum to the needs of the students with varying intellectual abilities, attitudes, and cultural backgrounds. Maintain standards of student behavior needed to provide an orderly and productive classroom environment. Evaluate each student’s development in the course being taught, prepare progress reports and report grades as required. Communicates with parents to further the individual student’s progress.
