Requirements / Qualifications

The Intervention/Focus Learning Coordinator provides guidance to identified at-risk students in learning the subject matter and skills that will contribute to their development as mature, able, and responsible men and women. The Coordinator works closely with teachers, administrators, counselors, and other outside agency personnel to enhance students’ school performance and promote social skills with peers and adults. - Bilingual (Spanish) a plus - Proficient in Microsoft Office - Knowledge of Student Information Systems/database - Minimum: Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience - Interpersonal and communication skills - Organizational and self-management skills; Ability to handle multiple responsibilities effectively - Goal orientation; Planning and execution skills - Problem solving abilities

Key Responsibilities: - Encourages identified at-risk students to set and maintain standards of classroom behavior. - Guides the learning process of the identified at-risk students toward the achievement of curriculum goals. - Monitors the identified at-risk student academic growth and keeps appropriate records. - Enhance academic performance in school by assessing students’ needs. - Help students with organizational skills, including but not limited to: remediation of concepts; completion of current assignments; make-up missed assignments; test preparation and practice presentations/speeches. - Consult with teachers to determine strategies for academic assistance. - Maintain updated list of students receiving services. - Remove barriers to students’ full access to opportunities in school environment, including co-curricular and extra-curricular activities. - Provide information and assistance regarding post-secondary education, scholarships, testing and help sessions. - Assist in completing college applications, essays, FAFSA and scholarship forms. - Promote life/social skills with peers and adults. - - Listen, support and model effective communication and problem-solving skills. - Serve as navigator of community systems to build self-awareness and self-confidence.
