CLOVIS UNIFIED SCHOOL DISTRICT POSITION DESCRIPTION

JOB GOAL: To perform a variety of instructional support duties in providing instruction to individual or small groups of students in a classroom; and to perform a variety of clerical duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS:
Knowledge and Skills: Child guidance principles and practices. Safe practices in classroom and playground activities. Reading and writing communication skills. Oral and written communication skills. Interpersonal relations skills using tact, patience and courtesy. Basic subjects taught in the District schools, includes arithmetic, grammar, spelling, language and reading. Techniques to motivate students. Basic arithmetic to assist in tutoring students. English usage, spelling, grammar and punctuation. Simple record keeping procedures. General purposes and goals of education. General methods of education and teaching.

ABILITIES:
Learn the procedures, functions and limitations of assigned duties. Understand and follow oral and written directions. Read, interpret and follow rules, regulations, policies and procedures. Operate instructional and office equipment. Learn to operate equipment used as educational aids. Work independently in the absence of supervision. Demonstrate an understanding, patient and receptive attitude toward children. Perform clerical duties such as filing, duplication, typing and maintaining simple records. Supervise and discipline students according to approved policies and procedures.

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE:
One year of general clerical experience.
High School Diploma and must take and pass Basic Skills Assessment test.

A. degree (or higher), or - Passage of CBEST exam, or - Pass a local assessment of knowledge and skills in assisting in instruction.
