Francophone Charter School of Oakland (FCSO) is seeking a dynamic teacher for our innovative new Oakland School. We have a highly diverse student body and staff. Your job would be to teach English Language Arts (ELA) using a workshop model, working closely with your French-speaking colleagues to create a holistic, engaging academic experience for our students. All teachers must be willing to embrace the professional development offered that is necessary to create a cohesive campus that realizes the educational and cultural mission/vision/principles of FCSO. Due to the growing nature of the school, there is a real opportunity for teachers for leadership building at the school.

The mission of the Francophone Charter School of Oakland is to provide a dual-immersion curriculum in French and in English to a diverse community of students. Our goal is to develop bilingual and bi-literate global citizens who are open-minded and value intellectual curiosity, personal integrity and creativity. 

Prior experience in a bilingual or language immersion school or program will be greatly appreciated, but we are open to having our campus be the first bilingual education experience for highly-skilled, dynamic elementary teachers who believe in our mission and vision. We are especially interested in candidates who can contribute to the excellence of the academic community through their research, teaching and/or service.

EDUCATION AND TRAINING: Candidates must have a valid Multi-Subject California teaching credential by the first day of school. For out-of-the country candidates, this credential can be obtained by submitting translated transcripts. This is a 70% position with paid health benefits.
