Requirements / Qualifications

Assists the Special Education Teacher in providing instruction to individuals or small groups of students with special needs as indicated in their Individualized Education Plans (IEP's). The aide may provide a variety of supportive services to identified special education students within a special education classroom in a public integrated facility or in the regular education setting. Experience: Six (6) months demonstrated experience working with youth in an organized setting. Education: High School graduation or the equivalent; Completion of two (2) years of higher education study OR possession of an Associate's or higher level degree OR pass assessment that demonstrates knowledge of and the ability to assist in teaching reading, writing, and mathematics OR reading, writing. and mathematics readiness.
