Requirements / Qualifications

Napa Valley Unified School District has a 1.00 FTE (Perm) opening for a Spanish Teacher at Vintage High School. Successful candidates will be able to teach all levels of Spanish including Spanish 1 to AP Spanish. All candidates must have thorough understanding of the National Foreign Language Standards, California State Frameworks, Standards and Assessments. Candidates need to have teaching experience at the high school level working with diverse populations, commitment to work on collaborative teams, willingness to develop Global Leadership Career Pathway, developing formative assessment practices, implementing 21st century teaching practices; differentiated instructional methods that support interventions and RTI; teaching the whole student; developing positive student/teacher relationships and; fostering a positive school climate. Vintage High School strongly encourages all teachers to sponsor a school club, coach a sport, or sponsor an extracurricular activity. Candidates must hold an English Learner Authorization (ELA) or be eligible for an Emergency ELA permit while working on earning an ELA.

Candidates must be credentialed and have demonstrated successful teaching skills at all levels of Spanish. Experience in beginning and introductory classes highly recommended. Ability to teach Spanish for Spanish Speakers is desired. Applicants should be enthusiastic, cooperative and dedicated to effective communication with students, parents and colleagues. In addition, they should be able to apply the National ACTFL World Languages Standards, the California World Languages Standards, and the California World Languages State Framework. Candidates must be able to develop communication-based instructional units, which include use of technology to enhance second language proficiency. Candidates who have had experience abroad are encouraged to apply. Must be CLAD certified or be qualified to obtain an emergency CLAD permit, and be able to demonstrate advanced fluency in Spanish in both written and verbal communication. Candidates should have experience working within professional learning communities (PLC); Vintage teachers work closely together to use data and instructional strategies to support all students to succeed. Candidates must value collaboration and teamwork as they will be expected to contribute positively to their PLC. Vintage High School expects all teachers to contribute to a positive school culture and encourages involvement through sponsorship of a school club or participation in school sponsored extra-curricular activities.
