Normal Schedule: M-F 1:30-6:30  W 1:00-6:30

Reports to: Student Activity Director

 


JOB SUMMARY: Under general supervision, assist with daily functions of after school program. 


 

DUTIES AND ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS

Duties of this position include but are not limited to:

  •  Assist in putting down mats and help put students to sleep during KEDS naptime.
  • Make sure snack tracker is filled out daily and is signed at the end of the month by Annex teachers.
  • Cover staff lunches during the first half of the year during KEDS
  • Organize snack and supper and make sure students are served.
  • Make sure areas are cleaned after snack and supper.
  • Collect attendance sheets daily and place them in designated area.
  • Monitor playground area during recess time.
  • Help handle student injuries by administering first aide.
  • Help KEDS teachers with classrooms duties (ie., homework time)
  • Work the receptionist desk after Annex day receptionist leaves.
  • Substitute in KEDS teacher absence.
  • Watch all kids who are still not picked up, if a child is not picked up by 6:10, then have the child call home and get the late pick up forms ready.
  • Put away all reception area materials, check sign out sheets, input attendance, file early release forms, and communicate any important information/ messages.
  • Performs other related duties as required and assigned.

 

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

Knowledge of: 

  • A valid First Aid certificate issued by the American Red Cross, which includes CPR training
  • TB Clearance
  • General concepts of child growth and development and child behavior characteristics.
  • Spanish and English (Bilingual) usage, punctuation, spelling and grammar.
  • General purposes and goals of public education.
  • Specific subject and content as required in job assignment.
  • Procedures to maintain specific performance records.
  • Technology, multimedia, and software applications desirable- Excel, Word, PowerSchool.

Ability to:

  • Assume responsibility for supervising students.
  • Learn and utilize basic methods and procedures to be followed in instructional settings.
  • Be patient and flexible in making quick changes in a daily lesson for individual or total group.
  • Provide feedback as to how the children are performing daily assigned tasks.
  • Demonstrate an understanding, patient, warm and receptive attitude toward children.
  • Understand and carry out oral and written instructions.
  • Maintain cooperative working relationships with students, staff, parents and the general public.
  • Ability to sit, stand, climb stairs, lifting up to 25 lbs, bend, pull, push, carry, walk and operate equipment

 Training and Experience:

Equivalent to completion of the twelfth grade. Paid or volunteer experience working with children in an educational or child care setting, or any combination of training and experience that could likely provide the desired knowledge and abilities.
