JOB DESCRIPTION RESOURCE SPECIALIST DEFINITION: The Resource Specialist provides direct instructional service to students, consultation services to regular program teachers and works with other professionals in developing cooperative programs to assist students. MAJOR DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: 1. Serves as a member of the site Student Success team 2. Coordinates all educational services and guidance to individuals with exceptional needs and their parents or guardians. 3. Ensures that all students on their caseload meet state and federal compliance requirements. 4. Writes and implements goals that address student’s areas of need. Reports progress on goals as required. 5. Provides additional instruction or services for identified individuals with exceptional needs assigned to the regular classroom teachers for the majority of a school day. 6. Provides consultant services, resource information and material regarding individuals with exceptional needs to regular staff members and parents on a regular basis. 6. Resource Specialist serves as a case manager and assumes responsibility for contacting and consulting with parents about any program changes. 7. Provides assessment and pre-referral intervention to general education students. 8. Provides tier 2 and tier three interventions to individuals or groups being considered for special education through the Response to Intervention Process. Other Duties and Responsibilities: 1. Evaluates pupil progress on a regular basis and revises individual instructional plans as appropriate. 2. Participates on the appropriate Identification and Assessment Teams to assist and consult in determining student admission, dismissal, transfer and continuing reevaluation. 3. Develops and executes a comprehensive program of inservice training and special instruction to include regular classroom teachers, special class teachers, parents and students with exceptional needs. 4. Assists in adapting and/or modifying present equipment and materials to meet the specific needs of individuals with exceptional needs. Employment Standards/Education and Experience: A valid California Teaching Credential plus a Resource Specialist Certificate is required.
