DESCRIPTION: Coordinate and Manage Independent Studies (IS) Program. This is a certificated administrative position that supervises the program on a satellite campus and is part of BUSD's high school diploma program.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Manage Independent Studies Program as part of the high school diploma program. Conduct orientation for new students and provide class assignments and schedules. Assign teachers to new students and schedule student appointments. Work closely with high school office to ensure accurate recordkeeping of credits and completed courses and to guide students in their academic programs.
Keep accurate records of student attendance and course completions. Maintain copies of all course materials, contracts, calendars, and other paperwork necessary for the program to function properly. Serve as liaison with the administration to keep administrators informed of relevant data and program status.
Develop, revise and update curriculum as needed. Order books, office supplies and curriculum-related materials. Supervise, evaluate and work with teaching staff to provide quality instruction to students. Train new teachers and organize and maintain campus systems for communication.
QUALIFICATIONS: Valid, teaching credential as well as a valid California Administrative Services Credential. Teaching experience in a classroom and/or Independent Study setting is preferred.
Candidates should be able to function independently and effectively and be able to communicate effectively and clearly with a diverse staff and student population. Effective written communication skills are critical.
Ability to integrate technology into instruction a plus. Demonstrated ability to meet needs of learners is required. Ability to work with teachers, staff and the administration in a collaborative, productive, and supportive manner preferred.
