START DATE:
This position is to begin as soon as possible. However, a start date is contingent on fingerprint clearance from the Department of Justice. Fingerprints will be taken at the time the position is accepted. There is a fee of $65.00 for fingerprinting. Payment is due at the time of service. Cash is not accepted.
Fingerprint clearance does not pertain to current employees of the Chaffey District.
BASIC FUNCTION:
Under the direction of a Campus Operations Foreman, maintain an assigned area of building and grounds in a clean, sanitary and safe condition.
REPRESENTATIVE DUTIES:
Listed below are some job duties of the position. If a complete job description is needed, please call the Personnel Office.
Sweep, mop, strip, scrub and wax floors; vacuum and shampoo carpets and rugs as necessary; dust assigned areas. Empty trash. Clean and sanitize restrooms, locker rooms and showers; clean sinks and toilets and replace paper in rolls; mop floors. Assure that gates and doors are locked or unlocked as necessary; raise flag at appropriate times. Clean white/black boards and erasers; empty pencil sharpeners and arrange furniture and desks. Perform duties as scheduled by supervisor; assist other staff as necessary. Check fire alarms and inspect campus for broken windows, doors, lockers and furniture; prepare reports as necessary; make minor repairs to furniture, equipment, buildings and plumbing to maintain assigned area in safe and operating condition. Perform related duties as assigned.
KNOWLEDGE AND ABILITIES:
KNOWLEDGE OF:
Cleaning equipment and supplies and their proper use. Safety precautions. Operation and maintenance of vacuum cleaners and other equipment utilized. Proper methods of storing equipment, materials and supplies. Requirements and procedures of maintaining school buildings in a safe, clean and orderly condition.
ABILITY TO:
Perform moderately strenuous work. Understand and follow oral and written directions.
Perform duties according to assigned schedule. Lift objects weighing at least 50 pounds.
Make minor repairs which do not require the attention of skilled maintenance personnel. Operate and maintain cleaning machines, buffers, strippers, water vacuums and other custodial equipment. Establish and maintain cooperative working relationships with others. Communicate effectively both orally and in writing.
EDUCATION* AND EXPERIENCE
Graduation from high school. Any combination equivalent to: sufficient training and experience to demonstrate the knowledge and abilities listed above.
If selected, proof of high school certificated or equivalency is required.
LICENSES AND OTHER REQUIREMENTS
Valid California Driver's License
Driving record acceptable to the District's insurance carrier.

Vaid Caifornia driver's license. Driving record acceptable to the District's insurance carrier. (Proof of driver's license and driving record must be submitted by the successful candidate(s) at time of hire)
Education/Certification/Experience: High school diploma or equivalent; basic custodial experience. Licenses and other requirements: Valid California Driver’s License Driving record acceptable to the District’s insurance carrier. Desired Qualification: One (1) year custodial experience; experience in an educational setting.
