KIPP is a national network of 200 college-preparatory public charter schools with a 20-year track record of preparing students in educationally underserved communities for success in college and in life.
In the San Francisco Bay area, there are currently 11 schools serving 4,700 students. These innovative, college-prep public schools are located in underserved neighborhoods of Oakland, San Francisco, San Lorenzo, San Jose, and Redwood City. Our newest elementary school will open in East Palo Alto, CA in the Fall of 2017.
KIPP, the Knowledge Is Power Program, is a national network of free, open-enrollment, college-preparatory public schools dedicated to preparing students in underserved communities for success in college and in life. There are currently 200 KIPP schools in 20 states and the District of Columbia serving nearly 80,000 students. Nationally, 85% of KIPPsters matriculate to college, and graduate at four times the rate of their peers from similar backgrounds. KIPP Bay Area Schools serves over 4,600 students, with plans to continue growing to serve more students over the coming decade.
About Technology at KIPP Bay Area Schools
KIPP Bay Area Schools invests in technology at each of our schools with the following goals in mind: college readiness for our students; greater personalization to meet each student’s needs; and elimination of the digital literacy gap. The Technology Team ensures the effective delivery of fundamental IT services (internet, computers, etc), as well as personalized learning programs and digital content at our 11 schools in the Bay Area. The Tech Team is focused on identifying and implementing systems that can improve the operations of our organization as our region continues to grow and scale. As the Technology Team, we:

Build and manage the technical infrastructure at all of our locations

Work with our IT support partner to resolve technical issues quickly and effectively

Setup and support personalized learning programs

Design systemic solutions to scale operations and assist with ongoing improvement of academic outcomes
Position Overview
The Operations Associate plays a general operations support role in the KIPP Bay Area Schools Technology department. They are responsible for a variety of functions, including accounting, equipment management, and systems administration of key business and academic software. We are looking for someone with excellent organization, communication, analytical skills and strong attention to detail. The ideal candidate will successfully prioritize among multiple projects, initiate process improvements, and build impactful relationships with various stakeholders. The Operations Associate role is an exciting opportunity to improve the efficiency and effectiveness of a system of high-achieving charter schools. This is a full-time, exempt position, based in our Regional Support Office. The Operations Associate will report to the Manager of Technology.
Key responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
Manage technical service provisioning

Manage device procurement for students and staff
-
Oversee technology deployment and maintenance for students and staff
-
Oversee account provisioning and maintenance for students and staff
-
Work with IT vendor to ensure excellent tech support for schools and staff
-
Collect & analyze feedback from schools via annual Technology Survey
Internal process
-
Handle all invoice payment and assist with adherence to departmental budget
-
Oversee and improve onboarding and offboarding processes
-
Identify & implement improvements in organizing school classroom devices
-
Handle basic systems administration of major internal systems, and propose optimizations
-
Propose service improvements based on feedback from school surveys
Special projects, for example:
-
Create schedules and track progress on cross-functional projects
-
Develop training plan & materials for ongoing technical training for teachers and staff
-
Assist with administration of Salesforce, Illuminate, and other region-wide software programs
-
Assist Technology Manager with implementation of Academic and Operational projects
-
Other projects as needed
Qualifications and Characteristics

Bachelor’s degree required
-
Passion for KIPP Bay Area Schools’ mission and a focus on what is best for students

Demonstrated customer service mindset and desire to support school staff and students

Strong interest in technology and the power of technology to enhance learning

Tech-savvy and strong critical thinking skills, but does not require strong technical skills/experience

Ability to present solutions to staff in non-technical jargon

Meticulous attention to detail

Articulate, professional demeanor with strong self-confidence and initiative

Strong interpersonal skills, with the ability to develop productive working relationships with stakeholders across functional and organizational lines

Willingness and ability to travel to school sites (often not easily accessible via public transit)

Previous experience in IT industry a plus
