Department: PrimeTime
Location: Varies, multi-site worker
Hours: Part time, Monday-Friday (All PM hours required), shift/hours vary by site
Salary: $12.50 per hour
Benefits: Retirement plan match maximum 2% of annual salary (403b); CA Paid Sick Leave accrued at 1 hour per 30 hours worked with a maximum accrual of 80 hours per calendar year
Description: This position is responsible for the safety, security and well-being of each child enrolled in the ASES program. Program Assistant performs administrative duties in Program
Specialist’s absence for up to 5 consecutive days.
Minimum Competencies
- Must be 18 years of age or older
- Must pass CAPE test or have a minimum of 48 college units
- Must have either a minimum of 6 completed units in child development, elementary and/or
middle school education, recreation or related field or a minimum of 6 months documented
work experience in an ASES program
- Valid Pediatric CPR and First Aid certification required
- A minimum of 1 year experience working in an after school or group child care setting with
elementary aged children
- Demonstrated ability in sports, special interests and hobbies, and/or arts and crafts
- Ability to relate well to children and adults
- Valid TB results required
- Must pass Alcohol/Drug Test and Fingerprint Clearance upon hire (paid by Harmonium)

Essential Functions
Communication:
- Develop and maintain positive, professional relationships with school site, parents, children
and Harmonium staff
- Communicate with parents regarding their child on a daily basis
Agency Leadership:
- Act as a role model on site for the staff
- Provide overall control and direction of staff on how to interact with internal & external
customers when Program Specialist is not in duty
Job Complexity:
- Supervise day-to- day activities of the program while following contract
- Assist with maintaining student-staff ratio
- Assist Program Specialist in developing and implementing a diverse, creative mix of arts &
crafts, sports, recreation, academic (homework assistance), and enrichment activities, that are age and interest specific for the children enrolled
- Assist with electronic attendance collection, snack procedures and maintaining enrollment information
Accountability:
- Open/close the site as required
- Maintain a clean and orderly designated school space
- Ensure the safety, security, and well-being of students enrolled in the program
Decision Making:
- Judgments and decisions are guided by Harmonium and program policies, contracts and guidelines
Staff Supervision:
- Ordinarily, no supervisory responsibility except occasional project based work
- This position also would function as the Program Specialist in her/his absence for up to 5 consecutive days
Physical Requirements:
- Ability to operate computer
- Frequent repetitive hand use and simple grasping
- Occasional standing, walking, kneeling, bending, twisting, pushing, pulling, reaching above, and below the shoulder
- Ability to lift and carry up to 20 pounds
- Ability to sit or stand for prolonged periods
- Ability to operate a vehicle
- High energy needed with the ability to balance multiple high-stress tasks
- Ability to work in noisy and outdoors environment
- Occasional travel in San Diego County
