Regional Operations Associate

About KIPP Bay Area Schools

KIPP is a national network of 200 college-preparatory public charter schools with a 20-year track record of preparing students in educationally underserved communities for success in college and in life.

There are currently 11 schools in the Bay Area serving 4,700 students.  These innovative, college-prep public schools are located in underserved neighborhoods of Oakland, San Francisco, San Lorenzo, San Jose, and Redwood City. Our newest elementary school will open in East Palo Alto, CA in the Fall of 2017.

Position Overview

The Regional Operations Associate will support our schools with their operating systems and processes to enable excellent teaching and learning. S/he will report to a Regional Operations Manager and will be based out of the regional support office in downtown Oakland, with occasional local travel to schools. This full-time exempt position is available immediately.

Roles and Responsibilities

After School Education and Safety (ASES)

  • Support schools with achieving program goals and comply with grant requirements

  • Manage annual after school program attendance audit, all compliance reporting, and grant renewal applications

  • Prepare schools for site visits from local county offices of education

Support student enrollment

  • Support with launching new student enrollment cycles for each school

  • Assist in implementation of student recruitment and enrollment strategies, including some grassroots flyering and community engagement

  • Perform other related duties and special projects as required or assigned

School program compliance and support

  • Manage clearance process for volunteers and volunteers/staff drivers

  • Prepare all schools for annual audit by collecting and reviewing documentation

  • Complete and submit school-specific reports required by the California Department of Education (CDE) and districts

Operations Community of Practice

  • Manage logistics for monthly Operations Community of Practice meetings

  • Contribute updates, action items and other information relevant in weekly operations email

  • Support knowledge management efforts within the department

Skills and Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree required with 1-2 years of work experience strongly preferred

  • Demonstrated ability to work well with others and build relationships across teams

  • Ability to self-direct, prioritize and multi-task among competing goals, while exhibiting flexibility in a fast paced, entrepreneurial environment

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills with keen attention to detail
