Description of Position:
Serves as secretary to the principal and manages the office. Deals with many sensitive and confidential issues regarding parents and students With minimum direction, performs secretarial work of a responsible nature while constantly interacting with the public, students, faculty, and other staff.

Major Duties and Responsibilities
1. Supervises and manages the office.
2. Serves as secretary to the principal.
3. Assists the public in a professional manner, by telephone or in person.
4. Works cooperatively with staff and students and parent organizations.
5. Is responsible for the secretarial/clerical work pertaining to: personnel, payroll, purchasing, work orders, class lists, letters and notices to parents, reports, requests, memos and bulletins, and special events.
6. Trains office personnel.
7. Updates physical and immigration records.
8. Orders, receives, distributes, and inventories supplies.
9. Composes memos and letters independently or from direction.
10. Schedules appointments and meetings for staff.
11. Schedules facility use.
12. Arranges teacher coverage for classrooms in emergencies as directed by principal.
13. Establishes and maintains files.
14. Receives and distributes mail; screens mail for principal.
15. Assigns keys.
16. Prepares and maintains supply of forms.
17. Registers all students new to the school.
18. Type up cums. Follows through with cum requests and processes cum files.
19. Performs minor first aid. Dispenses medication on a daily basis. Maintains log.
20. Maintains attendance records. Assists the Attendance Clerk for student attendance.
21. Performs other office functions as needed or directed by the principal (e.g.; budget, purchasing, government reports).
Minimum Experience and Job Requirements
1. Typing skill of 60 words per minute on an electronic typewriter or computer keyboard.
2. Supervisory and leadership skills; initiative.
3. Ability to work under pressure.
4. Above average ability in spelling, punctuation, and grammar.
5. Above average organizational skills.
6. Ability to operate various office machines, including computer (knowledge of maintenance and upkeep of hardware and software).
7. Experience in directly related work.
