PlayThrive After School Lead Teacher
Collaborative Team Lead Teacher | 25-40hrs/wk | 1 position available

Team Teacher position starting immediately in Redwood City:
- Monday through Friday afternoons until 6:15pm, following the school calendar. Start time ideally would be 10:15am, but can be adjusted depending upon your availability.
- Work with Head of School to develop and build a strong teaching team
- On-the-job training in Social Emotional Learning (SEL)
Required Qualifications:
- Minimum 3 years of teaching experience with elementary aged children
- Combination of schooling and/or experience in Early Childhood Education
- Proven classroom management skills
- Authorized to work for any employer in US
Preferred Qualifications
- Ability to speak/read/write Mandarin Chinese
- Experience in outdoor or physical education
- Experience working with at risk youth
Ideally, this is a full-time 40hrs/week position, but if you think you are a great fit and can only do part-time, please apply. We offer competitive pay based on experience $18-$20/hr, training in Social Emotional Learning (SEL), and freedom to co-create programs in topic areas you enjoy.
Responsibilities:
Team Teach After School Program
- Supervise 10-14 students ages 5 to 8
- Provide a physically and emotionally safe environment
- Foster a positive community by involving students in rule-making and self-assessing modeling expected behavior and language, and providing fun activity choices
- Support students in knowing themselves and connecting with peers
- Maintain an organized classroom to promote learning through exploration
- Lead and supervise outdoor/nature activities and group games, unless there is inclement weather
- Log student behavior and interaction with peers
- Work with co-teacher to
--- Design activities that are based on student interests, monthly themes, and the John Gill School curriculum
--- Proactively looking for ways to improve class structure, environment, and curriculum
--- Assess strengths and propose growth plans for each student
- Coordinate and support volunteers in classroom
Help Administer After School Program
- Communicate program information/updates as necessary to parents in person or by email
- Contribute to weekly newsletter
- Solicit donations for supplies and materials, and purchase additional materials within budget.
