STANISLAUS COUNTY OFFICE OF EDUCATION

CLASS TITLE: BEHAVIOR ANALYST ASSISTANT

BASIC FUNCTION:

Under the supervision of the Division Director, Special Education will collaborate with behavior analysts, classroom teachers and support staff to assist in the design, implementation and evaluation of Behavioral Intervention Plans (BIPs), Functional Analysis Assessment (FAA) and Behavior Support Plans (BSP’s) for Special Education students. 

REPRESENTATIVE DUTIES: 

Act as a resource to teachers, parents and school districts in area of expertise.

In collaboration with the special education teams, assist in the development of appropriate and effective behavioral intervention plans including behavioral goals focused on stabilizing the student in their current setting.

Attend IEP (Individual Education Plan) meetings and provide appropriate recommendations of support necessary for students.

Monitor behavior plans as per IEP and in accordance with IEP timelines.

Together with program staff and behavior analysts, develop systems for managing crises in the classroom.

Share knowledge of behavioral analysis data, positive discipline techniques, state and federal mandates, with parents and school personnel.

Develop effective working relationships with students, teachers, parents, school and support staff.

Communicate ideas in oral and written form.

KNOWLEDGE OF: 

IEP Process, behavioral analysis, positive behavioral intervention techniques and state and federal regulations as they relate to special needs students.

ABILITY TO: 

Work collaboratively with behavior analysts, teachers, support staff, parents and administrators.

Develop and implement effective behavioral intervention plans.

Develop data collection systems, train staff to use the systems, monitor and analyze data collection related to behavioral intervention plans.

Plan and implement quality in-service programs.

Establish and maintain effective working relationships.

Promote a positive image for the Stanislaus County Office of Education.

Use a computer with basic computer literacy.

EDUCATION:

Bachelor’s Degree is required.  Applicant must provide verification of the completion of a minimum of 90% of their Master or Arts/Science coursework in behavior analysis.  

EXPERIENCE:

Experience in design and implementation of behavioral intervention systems with elementary and secondary students in a school setting is desirable. 

LICENSES AND OTHER REQUIREMENTS: 

Must be eligible to sit for board certification as a Behavior Analyst within 6 months of employment as an assistant.   

Pass an employer paid pre-employment physical/drug screening.

Department of Justice clearance.

Valid California driver's license.

Employee must arrange their own transportation.  If using own vehicle in the course of employment must have proof of insurance.

May be required to drive from site to site.

Dexterity of hands and fingers to operate a computer keyboard.

Hearing and speaking to exchange information and make presentations.

Seeing to read a computer screen and a variety of materials.
