CLASS TITLE: SYSTEMS ANALYST I
BASIC FUNCTION:
Analyze, install, maintain and troubleshoot centralized computer systems, programs and software; meet with users to implement new and change existing computer systems; maintain documentation, forms, databases and reports; provide training in the proper operation of computer systems and applications.
REPRESENTATIVE DUTIES:
Individual positions may not perform all of the duties listed nor do these examples include all responsibilities of positions in this class.
Analyze, maintain and troubleshoot centralized computer systems, programs and software; install hardware and software systems. E
Communicate and work directly with District staff and individual users to determine conversion needs, coordinate activities, exchange information and resolve issues and concerns. E
Analyze new programs for system compatibility; assist individual users in the conversion to and understanding of new computer systems. E
Maintain electronic forms, databases and reports in response to user needs. E
Ensure the integrity and reliability of computer-generated reports. E
Maintain up-to-date documentation for purposes of training end users in the proper use of computer systems and applications. E
Provide training and support in the proper use of installed software systems; respond to questions or problems in person or on the telephone; drive to various sites to assist users as needed. E
Troubleshoot and resolve routine mainframe problems; conduct diagnostic testing on computers as needed; order replacement parts as needed. E
Maintain current knowledge of state and federal mandated policies, procedures and regulations for reporting purposes. E
Prepare and maintain records and reports related to assigned activities. E
Perform computer operator functions such as: print reports, back up computer system information and provide other services through the District office computer center.
Operate various computer hardware and software systems including mainframe, network and personal computers, and various printers, hard drives, cables and connectors, and other tools as assigned.
Perform system back-ups and preventive maintenance on hardware and software systems.
Maintain current technical skills and systems knowledge while learning to use new technologies in a self-directed environment.
Perform related duties as assigned.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
Any combination equivalent to: high school diploma or equivalent supplemented by bachelor’s degree in computer science, management information systems or related field or increasingly responsible experience in mainframe computer installations, operations, troubleshooting and repair work.
LICENSES AND OTHER REQUIREMENTS:
Valid California driver’s license.
