Communication Academy is an afterschool enrichment organization that has strived to improve communication skills with students at a young age. We offer a series of public speaking, debate, writing, reading, and math classes to students in grades K-12 in the South Bay, East Bay, and Peninsula of the San Francisco Bay Area. We have partnered with the following cities and school districts to offer our classes: Cupertino, Saratoga, Los Gatos, Palo Alto, Los Altos, Fremont, Milpitas, Dublin, Foster City, San Mateo, and Burlingame.

We are looking for several part-time Competitive Debate coaches for our Winter classes, Thanksgiving camps, and Holiday Break camps. We also need on-call substitute teachers for our current Fall classes.

Job Description
- Teach competitive debate classes/camps for 6-12th grade students
- Teach research, case writing, listening, flowing, critical thinking, cross examination and rebuttal skills
- Coach different styles of debate such as Policy, Public Forum, Parliamentary or LD
- Take students to Speech and Debate Competitions
- Use our proprietary curricula and/or add your own lesson plans
- Create a fun and supportive environment

Qualifications
- Minimum high School Diploma
- Minimum two years of competitive debate experience
- Some experience in coaching debate
- Well-versed in Competitive Debate formats
- Dynamic, articulate, patient, reliable, fun loving, professional
- Enjoy working with students ages 11-17
- Promote a fun and supportive environment

We are staffing for Saturdays between 9:00 AM - 7:00 PM and weekday afternoons between 3:00-7:00 PM.

Flexible working hours (between 2-20 hours per week) depending on the teacher's availability.
