Job Duties:
The Health Services department is seeking qualified part-time mental health counselors to provide short-term mental health counseling for a diverse population of students with the goal of maximizing success in the college setting. Major duties and responsibilities include providing brief individual mental health counseling for students, crisis assessment and intervention, mental health program and services development, and campus consultation and outreach.
Minimum Qualifications:
Must meet one of the sets of qualifications listed under a) through c):
a) A Master’s degree in counseling, rehabilitation counseling, clinical psychology, counseling psychology, guidance counseling, educational counseling, social work, career development, marriage and family therapy, or marriage, family and child counseling.
b) A Bachelor’s degree in any of the disciplines listed in a) above AND a license as a Marriage and Family Therapist (MFT ), pursuant to Title 5, Section 53410.1 of the California Code of Regulations.
c) A combination of education and experience that is at least the equivalent of the qualifications in either a) or b) above. You must complete and attach the Application for Equivalency form (http://www2.palomar.edu/pages/hr/equivalency-app/), if you do not possess the specific minimum qualifications as stated above, which includes degrees that have not been awarded at the time of submitting the application.
Only coursework completed at, and degrees awarded by, accredited institutions recognized by the U.S. Department of Education will be considered as satisfying the minimum qualifications. Coursework and degrees that are completed outside of the United States are required to have transcripts evaluated (evaluation to U.S. equivalency and a course by course analysis) by an appropriate U.S. credentials evaluation service.
