CORE Placer Charter School 18/19

JOB TITLE:  Personalized Learning Teacher (PLT)

 DESCRIPTION OF BASIC RESPONSIBILITIES

Personalized learning teachers facilitate the educational program for their assigned students. PLTs must perform all required school duties according to the school timeline. PLTs must attend all required staff meetings.

SUPERVISOR: Director

Essential Responsibilities include, but are not limited to: 

  1. In collaboration with student and parent/guardian, develop an individualized personalized learning plan, which is based on accepted state standards for academic achievement in California and towards graduation for high school students.
  2. Monitor the daily attendance of students and report truancy when necessary.
  3. Ensure that the student’s academic needs are met through selection of appropriate curriculum, classes, and educational activities.
  4. Meet parents within the school timelines at a mutually agreeable location to
    1. Monitor student's learning progress and collect Work Records
    2. Ensure that parents have completed the iReady Proctoring Affidavit and students have completed the initial and mid-year diagnostic assessments
    3. Encourage students to complete iReady lessons and participate in Progress Monitoring
    4. Identify and recommend a variety of curriculum, classes and educational activities appropriate to your your student’s personalized learning plan in consideration of your student’s learning style
    5. Ensure students and parents/guardians receive all important school related information
  5. Promptly answer all parent inquiries and requests for assistance within 24 hours or sooner if time sensitive.
  6. Keep communication records in the Contact Manager System within our School Pathways system.
  7. Proctor school and state required assessments
  8. Assist each family in understanding the importance of CAASPP testing (or similar norm referenced tests)
  9. Complete report cards for high school students, and elementary school students when requested.
  10. Collect and return all materials when the student dis-enrolls from the school or is finished with the curriculum
  11. Write an annual professional development plan with goals and objectives as defined by the charter school.
  12. Attend all staff meetings, CORE events and IEP meetings, as required.
  13. Attend School Board meetings as requested.
  14. Participate in regular Social Media marketing as guided by the Leadership team.
  15. Coordinate and Participate in Two or more building community events each month (Park Days, Booths at Marketing Events, Field Trips)
  16. Perform other related duties similar to the above as required.

  • Methods of assessing student performance;
  • Criterion referenced tests to assess student performance levels;
  • State standards and curriculum frameworks.

  • Employ appropriate student motivational techniques;
  • Accept individual student’s level of learning as a starting point for instruction;
  • Communicate with individuals from varied educational and cultural backgrounds;
  • Maintain accurate records;
  • Complete job duties in a timely manner;
  • Use school technology to perform job duties;
  • Communicate effectively in both oral and written forms;
  • Establish and maintain effective work relationships with those contacted in the performance of required duties.
  • Lift 50 lbs;
  • Drive 200 miles in one day.

Education, Experience and Requirements

  • Possess and maintain a current, clear California teaching credential with CLAD certification;
  • ESEA Compliant;
  • Annually obtain thirty (30) hours of professional development;
  • Valid California Drivers License/Proof of insurance;
  • First Aid Certificate including CPR;
  • TB test clearance;
  • DOJ fingerprint clearance;
  • Job requires ability to sit, talk, hear, drive, stand and walk.  
  • Personalized learning/homeschooling/independent study experience preferred
