CERTIFICATED JOB DESCRIPTION
TITLE OF POSITION: MIDDLE SCHOOL ASSISTANT PRINCIPAL
A. Primary function: To provide assistance to the school principal on all assigned activities of the school site and to assume complete charge in
the absence of the principal.
B. Directly responsible to: Principal
C. Staff assigned: Assigned certificated and classified personnel.
D. Assigned responsibilities:
1. Supervise assigned subjects of instruction.
2. Assists the principal in evaluating the staff: certificated and classified.
3. Assists the principal in interpreting the district educational program to the community.
4. Confers with students, parents, and teachers where individual student academic and behavioral problems are involved.
5. Maintains effective relationships with representatives of law enforcement and social welfare agencies in connection with serious pupil problems.
6. Supervises selected aspects of the extra curricular program, including lunch time, athletic and social activities, student government, assemblies, contests, buses, etc.
7. Supervises certain school auxiliary services that may include the safety programs, library services, audio/visual supplies, textbooks, guidance team, data processing, and master schedule.
8. Maintains a campus atmosphere that is conducive to a good learning environment.
9. Assists in supervising the preparation of such school communications as bulletins, handbooks, annuals, and newspapers.
10. Establishes, supervises, and implements attendance procedures which will assure accurate and complete attendance reports.
11. Performs other related duties as assigned.
E. Minimum Qualifications:
1. At least five years of experience as a teacher/counselor.
2. Completion of a master's degree and possession of an administrative credential for the appropriate level.
