Requirements / Qualifications

Principal Elementary Required Experience must be in a public school setting: Eight years of successful full-time public school district certificated service A minimum of three years experience as a teacher in a K-12 program A minimum of two years experience in an elementary instructional program grades Pre K through 6 And one of the following: A minimum of one year of service in an administrative or supervisory position utilizing an administrative credential A minimum of one year of experience in a school based assistant principal level position Three years verifiable full-time experience in a school based leadership non-classroom assignment, such as coordinator, instructional coach, or dean Minimum Requirements include: All minimum requirements must be met on or before the filing deadline. It is the responsibility of the applicant to ensure that documentation of minimum requirements is on file with the Human Resources Administrative Selection Unit. Kester Avenue School/Gifted High Ability Magnet Center is a traditional calendar school serving approximately 980 students in grades K-5. The campus houses both a Resident School of approximately 730 students and a Gifted/High Ability Magnet Center of approximately 250 students. Located in the San Fernando Valley and drawing its student population from urban neighborhoods both affluent and impoverished, Kester has a diverse socio-economic and ethnic population. The diverse student population is 32% White, 9% African American, 9% Asian, 45% Latino, and 16% English Learners. The campus hosts 1 RSP program, 1 Pre-school for All Learners program (PAL), Autism Without Walls program and a State Pre-school. The school is located at 5353 Kester Avenue, Sherman Oaks CA, 91411.
