Part-time Faculty, Special Education at Loyola Marymount University
Requirements / Qualifications
The primary responsibility of part-time faculty is to deliver instruction in the manner determined by the department and aligned with the University mission. Part-time faculty are charged with teaching courses involving: • Implement instructional methods • Demonstrate collaboration and/or co- teaching • Master and model behavior/classroom management, foundations, and assessment practices • Offer/Provide Capstone coursework, and/or fieldwork seminar supports • Attend program planning meetings • Participate in annual candidate exit assessments • Expected to hold class weekly • Provide ongoing support to students • Update course syllabi • Utilize LMU course management technology • Additional instructor expectations will be provided
Qualifications: Demonstrated evidence of teaching at the university level (preferably graduate-level courses). Required Education: Applicants are expected to have earned an advance degree in Special Education (or highly related field). The California Education Specialist credential with background and experience teaching in urban K-12 environment is highly desirable. Schedule Information: Graduate level courses are held in the late afternoon and evenings.
