NORTH COUNTY - CHILD & YOUTH DEVELOPMENT JOB FAIR
WHAT: The YMCA of San Diego County will be hosting a Before & After School Program Job Fair. We will be conducting on the spot interviews for Youth Development Leaders, which staff our licensed programs throughout North County, including Oceanside and Escondido. These roles work directly with youth, as they navigate through the after school program schedule. Activities include art, science, music, homework support/academic enrichment, group games, team building and so much more.
WHO: We are looking for motivated, creative and flexible staff for the Youth Development Leader role. These roles are great for Child Development, Education or Recreation majors. If hired, a typical schedule would be from around 12/1pm to 5/6pm, Monday - Friday, following the school district calendar.
WHEN: Tuesday, July 19, 2015, from 9:00am - 1:00pm. We will be completing our last set of interviews around 12:30pm, so please plan your time accordingly.
WHERE: Palomar Family YMCA - Teen Center Building - 1050 North Broadway, Escondido, CA 92026
WHAT TO BRING: A copy of your resume, unofficial college transcripts and copies of current First Aid/CPR (if you have obtained them)
Qualifications for Youth Development Leaders:
- Must be 18 years of age or older and a high school graduate.
- Youth Development Leaders - 12 units in Child Development or related field (including; Recreation, Physical Education, Art, Humanities, Health, etc.), or have 6 units completed and enrolled in 6 more units required. AA or BA in Early Childhood Education is highly desirable. If you do not have 12 units, please apply for the Youth Leader role, which does not require these credits.
- Youth Leaders - Must meet the minimum qualifications for Classroom Assistant/ Instructional Aide in the district in which assigned school operates; AA or BA is highly desirable, 48 college units or passing score on district's Classroom Assistant/ Instructional Aide Proficiency Exam acceptable. This exam is proctored by the YMCA, thus it can be completed while you go through the hiring process.
- Criminal record clearance by being fingerprinted prior to reporting to work and signing a statement regarding criminal convictions.
- A physical and negative TB test results within 7 days of hire.
- Must provide proof of current measles (MMR), pertussis (TDap), and influenza immunizations within 7 days of hire.
- Pediatric CPR and Pediatric First Aid certification required within 30 days of hire, unless specified otherwise on contract, and must be from one of the following certifying organization: American Red Cross or American Heart Association.
- EMSA Health & Safety certification highly desirable.
Major Functions of the Youth Development Leader Role:
- Assist in planning, supervision and implementation of the program in accordance with the goals and policies of the YMCA.
- Supervise participants, ensuring their guidance and safety.
- Comply with all licensing regulations and YMCA policies and procedures at all times
- Follow emergency procedures appropriately to ensure the safety of the participants and staff.
- Communicate in a positive and effective manner with all participants, school officials, parents, community members and co-workers.
- Assist in general housekeeping of the program space to include, but not limited to; cleaning bathrooms, wiping down table, sweeping/ mopping/ vacuuming floors, taking out trash and locking all doors.
- Maintain a professional demeanor at all times to ensure the YMCA image and mission statement are upheld.
