PRESCHOOL TEACHER – STONE SOUP  

POSITION SUMMARY:

This full-time, benefited position will provide comprehensive child development and early education programming for the preschool children within the Early Childhood Education Center at Stone Soup Fresno.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

Under the general direction of the Program Director/Master Teacher. this position is responsible for the following duties:

• Offering education, care and guidance for all children
• Developing weekly learning experience and prepare lesson plans
• Preparing, planning and providing a balanced, integrated and appropriate instruction for all children including those with special needs
• Preparing a classroom environment that supports learning
• Planning and participating in assessment activities
• Maintaining records of children’s work and progress
• Conveying instructional, facility, health and safety needs to master teacher or administrator
• Coordinating, supervising and evaluating assistant/associate teachers, student assistants and volunteers
• Conducting weekly staff meetings
• Encouraging parent involvement and have parent contact on a daily basis
• Identifying needs and refer families to community resources
• Planning and attending parent meetings and other activities
• Conducting parent conferences regularly
• Assisting in fund-raising activities
• Participating in professional development and educational programs at the center, organization, and through ECE organizations
• Other duties as assigned

POSITION REQUIREMENTS:

• Bachelor’s degree in Early Childhood, Child Development or closely related field (AA degree with significant experience will be considered)
• Child Development Teacher permit or greater required
• First Aid/CPR Certified and completion of State-required health and safety courses
• Minimum of 1+ years of increasing responsible experience in early childhood education including supervisorial related duties.
• Bilingual preferred (Hmong/English, Khmer/English, Lao/English)
• Valid Driver’s license, as driving may be a requirement of the position
• Successful completion of State background review
• Experience using the Desired Result Developmental Profile Assessment (DRDP-PS 2010 or 2015)
• Knowledge of the CA Preschool Learning Foundations and Curriculum Frameworks
• Knowledge of the Teaching Pyramid

COMPENSATION:

$12-14/hr, DOE.  Rate of pay will be commensurate and competitive with experience and qualifications.   Benefits provided for this position.
