Requirements / Qualifications

The Baldwin Park Unified School District is seeking multiple School Psychology Field Work/Interns in Special Education. Duties include the following: Under the supervision of the Special Education Administration (with School Psychology Credential) and/or a School Psychologist, conduct psycho-educational evaluations for special education, administering basic core assessments, writing reports and attending IEP meetings. Provide academic and personal counseling to students, individually and/or in groups. Work collaboratively with teachers, administrators, and school community. Consult with parents and teachers in the referral process about programs designed to prevent and/or remediate social, emotional, and learning concerns. Assist in conducting Functional Behavior Assessments and design behavior goals and plans with IEP team. Participate in crisis intervention team. Maintain confidentiality of student records and information. Work with children across at least three educational settings in grades Preschool through Adult Transition. Basic Knowledge of: Assessment and evaluation; General principles of educational psychology, student growth and development; School laws and regulations regarding curriculum and instruction; determining eligibility for special education services; administering basic core assessments; social, affective, and adaptive domains of child development; appropriate ethical, professional, and legal standards; regulations in the delivery of school psychological services; Ability to: Effectively assist the school community to improve student achievement; Demonstrate clear and effective oral and written communication; promote teamwork and shared decision making; promote a positive school climate; work collaboratively with district staff, principals, teachers, classified employees, and parents to improve student achievement; utilize computers and information systems such as a variety of scoring programs, SEIS and Illuminate.

REQUIREMENTS -Enrollment in a College or University School Psychology Program -Completion of Assessment Classes to be able to assess students independently -Must be eligible for College or University School Psychology Field Work/Intern Courses -If chosen the applicant will be required to pay Fingerprint and TB Clearance Fees, through BPUSD THE FOLLOWING MUST BE SUBMITTED WITH APPLICATION: (1) COPY of college coursework transcripts; (2) résumé; (3) three letters of recent professional references (within one year) [needs to be from supervisor/internship supervisor/college professor and must have signatures]; (4) letter of intent; (5) Proof of passing CBEST; (6) Letter from the Director of the School Psychology of your College or University indicating eligibility for internship/field work; (7) 1 Sample psycho-educational report; (8) certificate of clearance.
