REPORT TO

Vice President

GENERAL SUMMARY

Under the direction and supervision of the Vice President, the Principal shall sustain a safe, highly effective and well-organized educational environment that welcomes a close working relationship with all school-wide constituencies (i.e., parents/guardians, students, faculty/staff, administrators, partners and governance team members). In alignment with Epiphany Prep’s mission, goals, and standards, the Principal’s general functions are to assist the faculty in accomplishing the academic goals and demonstrating exceptional leadership in coordinating and monitoring the outcomes and day-to-day programmatic functions of the school.

 

DESCRIPTION OF BASIC FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES (GENERAL)

  1. Ensures an advocacy, integrity and clear articulation of the founding principles of Epiphany Prep Charter’s educational program for students;
  2. Models, organizes and communicates all phases of the educational program to meet the students’ academic, personal/social, and career/college growth goals;
  3. Leads with a spirit of collaboration to ensure the coordination of the planning, implementation and evaluation of the Curriculum and Instruction ensuring a culturally competent outcomes for the school and across the organization;
  4. Provides multiple opportunities for teacher and support staff professional growth based on a strengths based and sustainable model;
  5. Researches, designs, facilitates and implements a professional development yearlong plan to ensure capacity is created from within the school;
  6. Facilitates regular professional development whole staff learning opportunities grounded in best practices of instructional design and pedagogy;
  7. Develops, establishes, communicates and monitors the culture of a restorative practices classroom to maximize student’s strengths to achieve a sense of belonging;
  8. Leads with voice and action to ensure school facilities and grounds are a safe learning environment that provide a sense of belonging amongst a diverse community;
  9. Affirms the need of completing state and federal accountability measures within timelines and further leads teachers and staff to assess student knowledge and skill grade level mastery with multiple accountability tools then personalizes the learning plan;

10.  Prepares and attends regular School Board meetings to ensure calibration and communication for the fidelity of the academic, personal/social and career/college student growth goals;

11.  Develops monitors and practices implementation of achieving our Local Control Action Plan (LCAP) goals centered on our school and organization budget.

12.  Completes regular informal and formal teacher and support staff performance evaluations in the school and makes recommendations for the continued employment, reassignment, or separation from service of the personnel assigned to the individual school.

 

ADDITIONAL RELATED DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES

  1. Assists in preparing annual job descriptions and contracts for each faculty and staff position;
  2. Presents formal and informal student recognition of achievement, such as at weekly assemblies;
  3. Is accessible in person, by phone or through e-mail to all members of the school community, as needed, for any discussion pertaining to components of the school program, especially to parents and families on concerns about student learning and behavior;
  4. Works closely with faculty to establish annual academic calendar, daily class schedules, weekly supervisory duties, and coaching assignments;
  5. Oversees admissions, meals, athletics, and other support and operational programs;
  6. Shares in sponsorship of student activities, after-hour activities and faculty committees;
  7. Plans for coordination of the work of instructional and teacher assistants, and paraprofessionals;
  8. Participates with purpose professional development with fellow Principals and organization to ensure advocacy, integrity and clear articulation of the founding principles of Epiphany Prep Charter’s educational program for students;
  9. Performs other duties as assigned;

 

WORKING CONDITIONS

  1. Dexterity of hands and fingers to operate various equipment;
  2. Seeing to read a variety of materials;
  3. Hearing and speaking to exchange information and make presentations;
  4. Sitting or standing for extended periods of time;
  5. Walking, twisting, stooping, crouching, kneeling, bending over, grasping, reaching overhead, pushing, pulling and moving, lifting and/or carrying 0-50 pounds to waist height.

QUALIFICATIONS

  1. Must pass pre-employment physical examination and fingerprint clearance;
  2. Equivalent to the completion of a Master of Arts or higher degree in educational administration, instructional technology, or a closely related field. Possession of a valid California credential authorizing service as a school principal;
