Job Summary

The Language Academy of Sacramento is seeking a passionate and dedicated Dual Immersion Elementary Teacher to join our community. As a Dual Immersion Teacher, you will be responsible for instructing and engaging students in a bilingual educational setting, promoting language acquisition and cultural understanding. Your major duties will include planning and implementing lessons that align with the curriculum and meet the needs of diverse learners. You will create a positive and inclusive classroom environment that fosters language development and academic excellence.

POSITION SUMMARY:

Under the direction of the Academic Director (AD), and in the absence of the regular classroom teacher to help students to learn subject matter and/or skills that are required for scheduled lessons and to provide meaningful instruction for assigned classrooms.

 

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  1. Reports to school office at beginning of school day to pick up required materials/schedule of classes and at the end of the school day to return materials.  Follows sign out procedures as prescribed by the principal.
  2. Carries out a program of study prescribed in the lesson plans left by the classroom teacher.
  3. Creates a classroom environment that is conducive to learning and appropriate to the maturity and interests of the students.
  4. Guides the learning process toward the achievement of curriculum goals and objectives as indicated in the lesson plans for the lessons, units, or projects assigned.
  5. Employs instructional methods and materials that are most appropriate for meeting lesson objectives.
  6. Maintains a neat and orderly classroom.  Straightens chairs, tables, clears chalkboard, etc.
  7. Takes attendance in accordance with school procedures.
  8. Indicates to students at beginning of class the basic expectations for behavior in the class in accordance with Language Academy of Sacramento policies.
  9. Insures that the students are never left unattended in the classroom.
  10. May perform duties usually required of absent teacher such as lunchroom duty, hall monitoring, etc.
  11. Knows emergency evacuation routes for the classrooms assigned.
  12. Knows procedures for referring students who are disciplinary problems.
  13. Knows school procedures and regulations.
  14. Performs other related duties as directed by principal

 

EDUCATION, CERTIFICATIONS, AND WORK RELATED REQUIREMENTS:

  1. Bachelor’s degree, including all courses to meet credential requirement and/or certification in relevant subject area, from an approved institution is required.
  2. A minimum of 30-Day Substitute Teaching Credential
  3. Application:

  4. Letters of Recommendation (minimum of two)

HIRING PROCESS:

Once the substitute candidate has attended the mandatory New Employee Orientation and all pre-employment paperwork and clearances have been received, LAS will send an email to the substitute notifying him/her that he/she is now cleared and has been added to the active sub list.
