Job Description / Essential Elements:    Print   
The Classified Student Monitor, in a manner consistent with school policy and priorities and approved by the Site Coordinator. The position’s primary responsibilities are facilitating services and information at the site, supervising students and designated personnel, and performing clerical and attendance tasks. Duties and Responsibilities: 1. Greet visitors and answer all general questions pertaining to the Learning Center. 2. Answer telephone to provide information, take message, or transfer calls. 3. Respond to inquiries about the school, resources and programs as able and/or direct questions to the appropriate office or person in charge as needed. 4. Supervise students and enforce Site Policies for School Success. 5. Supervise site volunteers or lunch supervisors, as appropriate or as needed. 6. Talk with students encountering problems and resolve as able. 7. Document and direct any student who breaks Site Policies for Student Success to Site Coordinator. 8. Assist parents with online enrollment procedures. 9. Perform clerical duties and maintain attendance recordkeeping. 10. Assist teaching staff with copying and securing class materials. 11. Assist Site Coordinator in creating and advertising site news and class announcements. 12. Submit a weekly update by e-mail to Site Coordinator. 13. Attend in-person meetings with Site Coordinator as needed to discuss site objectives and monthly newsletter. 14. Keep regular phone contact on enrollments, drops or any policy changes. 15. Maintain faculty notebooks. 16. Process time sheets in a timely manner as directed. 17. Maintain first aid kit/emergency forms. 18. Be available to monitor classroom during temporary absence of teacher as requested. 19. Order and dispense school supplies as directed. 20. Accept and deposit funds for lunches, school supplies, and student activities when required. 21. Assist with site-based orientations and other parent support/informational meetings as requested. 22. Teach a learning center course at instructor hourly rate as long as it will not interfere with other site duties as determined and approved by the Site Coordinator. (Optional) 23. Perform other related duties as assigned. EVALUATION: Performance of this job will be evaluated in accordance with provisions of school policy on evaluation of personnel. Minimum Qualifications and Requirements: Education, Experience, Licenses and Other Requirements: • Valid California driver’s license. • Availability of reliable private transportation. • Up-to-date TB Test on file. • Fingerprints cleared and on file. • Three years related experience preferred. Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Required: • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with others. • Ability to communicate effectively orally and in writing. • Ability to maintain records and prepare reports. • Ability to plan and organize work and meet performance goals. • Ability to meet schedules and timelines. • Ability to operate standard office equipment and to use technology in an effective manner for communicating, analyzing, and reporting. Proficiency in Excel, Word, email and Web-based applications required. • Knowledge of JCS program, school and site policies and procedures. • Knowledge of basic first aid and emergency preparedness helpful. Physical Demands: The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. • Sitting or standing for long periods of time and frequent viewing of computer screen and other resources. • Hearing and speaking to exchange information in person and on the telephone. • Seeing to read, prepare, and proofread documents and perform assigned duties. • Dexterity of hands and fingers to operate a computer keyboard and other office equipment. • Lifting light objects up to 25 pounds.
