I.T. TECHNICIAN
Job Scope
The I.T. Technician serves as a technical resource and assists in supporting all desktop, mobile and peripheral devices at Santa Rosa Academy. Is responsible for the installation, configuration, operation, repair, maintenance, troubleshooting, updating and diagnosis of hardware, software and other equipment. Communicates effectively with the Supervisors and other I.T. staff. Maintains department records, resolves E-ticket requests, tracks inventory and executes assigned projects. Interacts daily with students, parents and staff to identify technology problems and resolve them with a high level of customer service. In addition to general duties each technician may be assigned one or more project/task specialist role(s).
Essential Functions
1:1 Program - Level One Student/Parent Support
Communicates with students in person, by phone, by email or via E-ticket for the purpose of providing information and support for the 1:1 Program. Answers student 1:1 Program questions, policy questions, repair/warranty process questions and other general technology department questions. Interacts with students to process student MacBook repairs (on-site, off-site and insurance-based). Logs and tracks student repairs. Checks-out and tracks repair loaner equipment.
Data Entry/Records Management
Maintains a wide variety of documents, files and records (e.g. repair documents, contact lists, student email account creation and logging, PD materials, etc.) for the purpose of documenting activities, providing information and supporting department programs.
Inventory Management
Maintains and documents inventory in the following categories: textbooks, furniture, office supplies and technology equipment. Maintains technology equipment for the purpose of ensuring items' availability including the processing of performance and repair documentation for office equipment (e.g. Xerox copiers).
General Technology Department Support
Processes a variety of documents, materials and equipment (e.g. logs, software, equipment check out, etc.) for the purpose of disseminating information and equipment in compliance with program, district, state and/or federal requirements. Performs other related duties, as assigned, for the purpose of ensuring the efficient and effective functioning of the SRA technology department.
Potential Additional Duties (Project/Task Specialist)
Device Application Deployment Specialist
Maintain and support all Windows, Macintosh and mobile device applications; analyzes and documents new and existing systems, determines requirements and recommends techniques; tests and evaluates solutions.
E-Ticket System Specialist
Supports and updates the SRA E-ticket system (WHD). Maintains the system database so that devices and users (students and staff) are properly configured. Installs WHD system updates as needed and troubleshoots system problems.
Repairs and Claims Specialist
Repairs Chromebooks and MacBooks as needed.
QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS

Knowledge of:
- Various forms of electronic technology suitable for educational applications
- The use of a variety of computer systems and software and their application to District needs
- Basic computer functions including hard drives, keyboards, printers, scanners, and projectors
- Network Management tools such as, shell scripting language, VBscript or PowerShell as well as web based repositories.
- Apple and PC operating systems and related software
Ability to:
- Establish and maintain cooperative working relationships with those contacted in the course of work
- Read and understand technical manuals and reports
- Operate a variety of computer systems, networks, and application software
- Maintain confidentiality of school related information
- Identify, diagnose and find effective solutions to problems related to computer hardware and software
EXPERIENCE AND EDUCATION
Experience:
- At least two years experience working with computer hardware, software and peripherals, repairing and installing technology equipment
- Scripting experience preferred: Custom scripts using, Bash/Shell, Python or other language
Education:
- High school graduate or equivalent
- At least one year of training in computer and/or network information systems or comparable experience in a work environment, or college degree
- Supplemental specialized training in technology and/or vendor certifications, LAN support services, including problem analysis/resolution, and installation are highly desirable
