GIRLS’ HEAD WATERPOLO COACH

 Coach Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Teach athletes to perform sound, safe fundamental techniques of sport.
  • Direct all phases of the Girl’s Water Polo Program.
  • Recruit student athletes on campus.
  • Assist in the hiring of the coaching staff, scheduling, purchasing, etc. for the Mustang program.
  • Maintain open lines of communication with parents through team parent meetings, film nights, parent nights, and other events as necessary and support booster organizations.
  • Perform tasks (i.e. scouting, video analysis, chalk talks, etc.) to prepare for games and tournaments.
  • Assist athletes in the college recruitment of student-athletes in the program.
  • Assist Athletic Director or school administration in other coaching duties as may be assigned.
  • Run a summer program/camp for the development of the skills of current and future players.
  • Adhere to and implement the principles of the “Pursuing Victory with Honor” sportsmanship program (trustworthiness, respect, responsibility, fairness, caring, citizenship).

 Professional Minimum Qualification:

  • Evidence of recent successful coaching experience at the high school level or coaching at the community college or college/university level.  (winning seasons, league/section championships, etc.).
  • Evidence of both technical knowledge of water polo and ability to organize a complete program structure.
  • Ability to communicate fundamentals through advanced skills using a variety of coaching techniques.
  • Experience in working with a booster club or other athletic support groups.
  • Experience in working with and promoting a positive program to the community.
  • Knowledge of CIF rules, high school athletic policies and all school rules and regulations.
  • Evidence of knowledge of coaching theory and child psychology.
  • Proof of completion of First Aid and CPR.
  • A valid California Secondary Teaching Credential.
  • Evidence of successful teaching experience.
  • Coaching background that emphasizes the principles of “Pursuing Victory with Honor” (trustworthiness, respect, responsibility, fairness, caring, citizenship).

Personal Qualifications:

  • Personal conduct emphasizing qualities of the “Pursuing Victory with Honor” sportsmanship program (trustworthiness, respect, responsibility, fairness, caring, citizenship). 
  • Demonstrate a positive role model for staff and students. Conduct self at all times in an exemplary manner, carefully choosing appropriate language during practice and at events. 
  • Demonstrate dedication and commitment to a successful program.
  • Demonstrate ability to work cooperatively with parents, teachers, students and school administrators.
  • Place high emphasis on student academic development in addition to physical development.
  • Use positive methods to give encouragement.
  • Show self-discipline, respect and restraint in stressful situations involving officials, players, coaches, parents and spectators.
