Requirements / Qualifications
Required Experience must be in a public school setting: • Five years of successful full-time public school certificated service • Three years of experience as a teacher in a K-12 program • Two years of experience at a middle or senior high school • One year in a non-classroom leadership position (i.e., Categorical Adviser (0704), Temporary Adviser, Out of Classroom Assignment (0706), or Instructional Coach) Other minimum requirements include: A valid California teaching credential requiring a Bachelor's degree and a program of professional preparation, including student teaching A valid California Administrative Services Credential Master’s degree from an accredited college or university Multicultural coursework* District Master Plan requirements* *Candidates have one year to complete this requirement.

Alexander Hamilton High School is a large urban comprehensive school in West Los Angeles with an enrollment of approximately 2,500 students. The school has approximately 1,300 students from the local attendance area and another 1,200 in two magnet programs and a School for Advanced Studies that are part of the Los Angeles Unified School District’s desegregation program. The two magnet programs are the Academy of Music and Performing Arts Magnet with 850 students and the Hamilton Humanities Magnet with 360 students. There is also a School for the Advanced Studies (SAS) that serves Gifted and Talented students from across the District. This program has been growing over the past three years and currently has approximately 400 students. The remaining students are from the neighborhood area and served by one of two SLCs, Business Information Technologies or Communication Arts Academy.
