MIDDLE SCHOOL CREDENTIALED SCIENCE TEACHER OPPORTUNITY

The City School is a progressive, high-achieving, project-based school that serves a student body reflective of the full range of socioeconomic, cultural, and racial diversity in Los Angeles. Honoring a student- centered, constructivist approach to teaching and learning, City implements a problem and project-based curriculum in a block schedule and emphasizes developing students as strong writers, independent learners, and civic- minded members of the community.

Our staff love middle and high school kids and love working at City. Teachers at The City School experience curricular freedom, lots of professional development and collaboration, and true voice and input into the school's operations.   • 2+ years of experience teaching the subject to middle school students
  • Enthusiasm for the schools values, mission and educational philosophy

  • Proven commitment to constructivism, multiple assessments, data driven instruction and a collaborative approach to teaching and learning
  • California Single Subject Teaching Credential

Responsibilities will include:

  • Backward design curriculum construction and implementation of subject-specific lessons that incorporate the school’s definition of an educated person and emphasize active learning strategies and problem-based learning
  • Assessing student progress and maintaining accurate records
  • Taking the lead in developing their individualized action research professional development plan
  • Maintaining frequent communication with student’s families, colleagues and other school stakeholders
  • Maintaining regular, punctual attendance
