Position:                 Advisory Teacher for GVA Charter Homeschool

Definition:              Works as an advisor to parents and their homeschooling student's

to ensure maximum learning potential for each individual student.

Major Duties and Responsibilities:

• Assess student academic ability grades K – 8
• Select instructional materials to fit needs of each student
• Work with parents to set goals and plan curriculum
• Establish and maintain ongoing, regular communication with students and parents
• Instruct parents in teaching strategies and learning processes
• Review monthly learning records and monitor educational progress
• Work closely with charter school staff and support personnel
• Participate in professional growth as needed to keep current with homeschooling teaching needs
• Be willing to share your strengths and skills in one or more of the following ways: student classes, parent workshops, field trips, labs, committees
• Other duties as assigned

Position Qualifications:

• California Teaching Credential
• Ability to relate well to parents, students, and staff
• Successful experience in interacting and working with children
• Ability to be flexible as the need arises both in schedule and mind-set
• Strong understanding of Common Core including instructional materials, and techniques very beneficial
• Minimum of two years of classroom experience preferred
• Experience with homeschooling preferred
