OASIS (Outdoor Autism & Special Issues School) in Freedom, CA is a unique certified nonpublic school for teens and young adults with autism aged 12-22. Our students are on the go every day, with regular swimming, hiking, community skills instruction, and sensory activities. We develop functional academic and life skills through hands-on experience and plenty of movement. Our instructional aides work 1:1 with different students each day.
We're looking for student partners who are flexible, calm, good at making decisions, ready to celebrate success and willing to patiently build connection. We provide training on our curriculum, teaching style and the ways we support our students as they venture into the community with us.
Applicants must have at least 2 years college (48 semester units) or an Associate Degree. Autism experience, particularly with teens or young adults is a plus. The position requires a clean DMV and reliable transportation, and comfort with regular days full of movement, adaptability, and physicality (running, jumping, bending, lifting, climbing, hiking, etc.) and electronic communication. Hours are Tuesday - Friday 8:45am to 3pm, with an additional weekly team meeting until 4pm on Mondays. We operate year-round, with an extended school year program for all students. The position does provide benefits.
