The Vacancy: This list will be established to meet the District’s need for substitute and temporary employees to fill vacancies for 6 months. The Position: Sweep, mop, scrub, strip and wax floors; clean and vacuum rugs and carpets; clean, dust and polish furniture, woodwork and cabinets; empty and clean waste receptacles; clean hallways, restrooms, offices and lobbies; clean ceilings, walls, window shades, light fixtures and interior glass partitions and venetian blinds; assist in moving and arranging furniture and equipment; polish metal work; turn out lights and lock doors and windows; refill lavatory supply dispensers; replace light bulbs and tubes; operate scrubbers, buffers, waxers and other equipment and machinery; clean a variety of kitchen equipment and appliances; requisition supplies as needed; regulate building temperatures; observe and report needed repairs to buildings and equipment; perform some minor building maintenance work in the repair of doors, locks windows and fixtures; may clean grounds, water lawns, plants, and do pruning in areas adjacent to buildings; maintain equipment used in the course of the work.

Required Qualifications: Any combination of training and experience, which would likely provide the required knowledge and abilities, is qualifying. Prior experience in janitorial work is desirable. Selection Procedure: The selection process will consist of an evaluation of training and experience and an interview.
