Imperial County Office of Education Teacher of the Infant Toddler Program The Imperial County Office of Education Infant Toddler Program provides family-focused early intervention services to infants and toddlers with developmental delays in one or more of the following areas: cognitive development, physical development (including vision and hearing), communication development, social or emotional development, adaptive development or who have a diagnosed physical or mental condition that has a high probability of resulting in developmental delay and their families. Brief Description of Position Coordinates and provides comprehensive early intervention services to infants and toddlers 0 to 3 years of age and their families. Facilitates operation of center and home-based program components. Collaborates with families and communities to establish family-centered, comprehensive, multidisciplinary, interagency and community-based services. Major Duties and Responsibilities § Consult with parents, other service providers, and representatives of appropriate community agencies to ensure the effective provision of services. § Educate parents and others regarding the provisions of services. § Participate in multidisciplinary team assessments of a child, the child’s family, and in the development of integrated goals and outcomes for the individualized family service plan. § Coordinate service provision of the home and center based program components. § Facilitate requirements for service provision and function in the role of service coordinator as mandated in Part H of IDEA Legislation and SB 1085. § Serve on multiagency councils representing ICOE– Infant Toddler Program. § Participate in public awareness and outreach activities. Secondary Duties and Responsibilities § Evaluate and make periodic reports to parents and school personnel of the adjustment and educational progress of each pupil. § Maintain basic attendance accounting and required student information system. § Make appropriate referrals to other professionals and agencies on behalf of the student and family. § Encourage parents and instruct them in appropriate methods to assist their child. § Serve as a consultant to schools within the county. § Work as a consultant to schools within the county to ensure successful integration and transition via SELPA Procedures. Requirements § A valid California Education Specialist Instruction Credential in Early Childhood Special Education or other Special Education Credential authorizing instruction to Special Education infants and toddlers (ages birth-3). § A valid California Driver’s License. Desirable Qualifications Three years successful teaching experience with students with moderate to severe mental disabilities. Knowledge with regards to mandates under Part H of IDEA. Experience with infants and toddlers birth to age 3.
