Job Summary
AVID, Advancement Via Individual Determination, is a global nonprofit organization dedicated to closing the achievement gap by preparing all students for college and other post-secondary opportunities. AVID Tutors assist students by providing academic support for students in rigorous courses, serve as a role model to students, assist students in successful completion of college eligibility requirements, assist students with organization, and actively participate in collaborative groups and tutorials. AVID Tutors are expected to be active learners, not content experts. Tutors must complete a tutor training which will be provided by our AVID teachers. AVID Tutors work during the school year (September through May) and typically work between 10 - 30 hours per week with middle school and/or high school age students.
Requirements / Qualifications
AVID Tutors should: 1) Be currently enrolled in a college course - (current course enrollment proof required) 2) Have good communication skills - willing to ask questions and provide constructive feedback to students 3) Show initiative by doing what needs to be done without waiting to be asked 4) Enjoy working with middle and high school students

If you are interested in working as an on-call, day-to-day substitute with the Carlsbad Unified School District, you will need to complete the following steps:
Visit the Carlsbad Unified School District Website for information on becoming a classified substitute (https://www.schooljobs.com/careers/carlsbadusd/transferjobs).
Print, complete, and submit the classified substitute application to Gayle Palmer via email at gpalmer@carlsbadusd.net, or at the District Office between the hours of 7:30 am - 2:30 pm, Monday through Friday. The District Office is located at 6225 El Camino Real, Carlsbad, CA 92009.
Submit a valid Tuberculosis clearance (within four years).
Upon your submission of a completed application and required materials, you will be sent for fingerprint clearance at the District's expense.
