JOB GOAL: To utilize appropriate instructional skills and strategies to promote the fullest development of each student's skills, knowledge, concepts, generalizations, principles, appreciations and attitudes. The teacher will guide each student in valuing the dignity and worth of self and others. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES: 1. Uphold the charter mission and vision. 2. Follow the California Standards for the Teaching Profession. 3. Demonstrate knowledge of subject matter. 4. Provide a quality and enriched student curriculum. 5. Provide continual assessment of student progress and maintain records of progress. 6. Use student assessment data to plan for instruction to meet the changing needs of students. 7. Create and maintain effective environments for student learning. 8. Determine cooperatively with the evaluator appropriate learning objectives for the class, taking into account the school’s course of study and the assessed needs of the students. 9. Provide individual and/or group instruction. 10. Monitor students' progress and evaluates the students' achievements in relation to the agreed-agreed upon learning objectives. 11. Report individual student progress to parents and school personnel through the preparation of reports and/or the holding of conferences. 12. Create a functional and attractive learning environment. 13. Maintain professional competence through participation in inservice education and professional growth activities. 14. Perform basic attendance accounting and other necessary reporting functions. 15. Assist in selecting instructional materials and supplies. 16. Establish and maintain appropriate standards of student behavior. 17. Supervise students in out-of-classroom activities during the assigned working day. 18. Monitor a comfortable room environment through control of heating, lighting, and ventilation to the extent possible. 19. Administer benchmark and standardized tests in accordance with school/state testing program. 20. Participate in developing curriculum and other programs within the school. 21. Plan and coordinate the work of instructional aides, teacher assistants and community volunteers as appropriate. 22. Share in the sponsorship of student activities. 23. Participate in faculty committees. 24. Interact professionally with colleagues, parents, and community. 25. Adhere to the Code of Ethics of the Teaching Profession. This list of essential functions and responsibilities is not exhaustive and may be supplemented as necessary. TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT: Salary and work year to be established by the Board. EVALUATION: Performance of this job will be evaluated in accordance with California Standards of the Teaching Profession and provisions of the Board's policy on Evaluation of Certificated Personnel.
