Requirements / Qualifications

Required Experience must be in a public school setting: • Eight years of successful full-time public school district certificated service • A minimum of three years of experience as a teacher in a K-12 program • A minimum of two years of experience in an elementary instructional program grades Pre K through 6 And one of the following: • A minimum of one year of service in an administrative or supervisory position utilizing an administrative credential • A minimum of one year of experience in a school based assistant principal level position • Three years verifiable full-time experience in a school based leadership non-classroom assignment, such as coordinator, instructional coach, or dean Minimum Requirements include: • A valid California teaching credential requiring a Bachelor's degree and a program of professional preparation, including student teaching • A valid California Administrative Services Credential • Multicultural coursework* • Master’s degree from an accredited college or university • District Master Plan requirements* *Candidates have one year to complete this requirement

The campus hosts a Gifted/High Ability Magnet, a neighborhood school, and several special education classrooms. The student population is 89% economically disadvantaged, 85% Latino and 25% English Learners. The Vena community operates through a collaborative leadership model where parents, teachers, staff, and administration work closely together to ensure every aspect of the schools instructional program and operations meet the highest standards. As a result of this approach, Vena has made steady gains in student achievement over the past 7 years.
