Job Description-  Under the Supervision of Special Education Administrator, the Licensed or Credentialed Psychologist will perform a variety of duties including Individual/Group Counseling for students on IEPs typically under the eligibility of Emotional Disturbance or Other Health Impaired, consultation/counseling  with parents of these students, development of pro-social skills, consultation with teachers working with students in the Intensive Intervention (II) program or students under consideration for this program and participation of the development of IEPs  to provide students  with Least Restrictive Environment.

Major Duties and Responsibilities:

1)  Provide a variety of mental health services including Individual and/or Group Counseling and family counseling
2)  Work collaboratively with providers to offer educational benefit, improve academic performance, foster pro-social skills, prevent violent behavior and provide services to strengthen families as well as students.
3)  Participate in a team approach to provide special education services to qualifying students and ensure that mental health related services are available and provided to students in designated programs.
4)  Participate in team meetings for students being considered for placement in the Intensive Intervention Program, including case conferences with appropriate staff members and follow-up activities required for the placement to occur in a timely manner.
5)  Development of Behavior Intervention Plans based on Functional Behavior Assessments for students participating in the Intensive Intervention Program.
6)  Assist in transitioning students to and/or from Non Public Schools to District school options to support Mental Health needs in the least restrictive environment.
7)  Travel from site to site and/or perform necessary home visits to provide case management, monitoring, participation in and /or consultation with IEP teams, and collaborative support for families of students placed in or considered for the Intensive Intervention Program. 
8)  Act as a resource and demonstrate leadership in working with the Intensive Intervention classrooms and NPSs in the development and implementation of educationally related mental health services.
9)  Provide and participate in parent and /or professional staff development activities related to mental health.
10) Serve as District liaison to mental health providers/agencies attending meetings as requested
11) Perform related duties as assigned.

 Minimum Qualifications
-Psychologist  with California license related to student and family therapy or School Psychologist Credential
-CA Pupil Services Credential
-Master's Degree
-Minimum of 5 years of experience working successfully  in a therapeutic/educational setting

 Preferred Qualifications
-Training in CPI/PENT/Boys Town or other Behavioral Intervention program
-Knowledge of most recent California/Federal laws pertaining to Special Education/mental health/counseling
-Knowledge of typical human behavior and development of children and youth, ages 5-22
-Knowledge of psychological and social aspects and characteristics of children with disabilities, particularly emotional disturbance; problems, needs and attitudes of individuals with disabilities, particularly emotional disturbance.
-Knowledge of evidence-based therapy methods appropriate to meeting the needs of special education students and their families; agencies and resources available to assist children; federal and state laws concerning family rights and behavioral health services

SALARY/WORKING DAYS:

201 working days.  Salary based upon placement on Certificated Salary Schedule plus supplement factor of $33.17 per day.  As part of your employment with the District, you will be required to obtain an English Language Learner Authorization on your credential by February first of your second year of employment.
