We are seeking masterful teachers who want to make a difference in the lives of children and in the future of education.
Position: Elementary Teacher-Innovation Centre La Mesa
Summary of Duties and Responsibilities:
Instruction: Plan lessons utilizing texts and tools that facilitate student academic achievement in grade level standards and subject matter, integrating the creative, visual and performing arts. Prepare lessons that clearly state instructional objectives, California Common Core State Standards addressed, and methods of evaluation.
Student Support: Provide full academic support in subject area of specialty; give pacing or assignment advice as needed in a timely manner. Provide assistance to students as needed. Manage ongoing assessment and evaluation of student progress using multiple sources of information; provide inpout on assessment programs, school programs/procedures, and other issues that affect student learning. Initiate and attend parent/student conferences as needed. Model effective organization, learning, and teaching strategies. Participate in Student Study Team (SST) or special education meetings if called upon to do so and/or prepare complete documentation for the special education (SPED) staff to share at parent meeting(s).
Summary if required knowledge:
- Valid California teaching credential (multiple subjects)
- Valid California driver's license
- Previous independent study and home study experience
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
- Strong skills in interpersonal, oral, and written communications
- Ability to foster a cooperative work environment
- Ability to direct, motivate, listen and encourage students, parents and staff
- Skill in implementing educational theory and methodologies
- Ability to analyze and assess student learning
- Ability to analyze achievment data by studying, evaluating, and modifying current instructional practice to accelerate students' academic achievement
- Skill in design, implementation and evaluation of instructional program
- Ability to use technology in an effective manner for teaching, communicating, analyzing, and reporting
- Experience with Excel, Word, email and Web-based applications required
- Knowledge of and ability to apply California's Content Standards to lesson design and overall program rersponsibilities, with a particular focus on being able to teach to the standards

- Up-to-date TB test on file
- Sitting and standing for long periods of time and frequent viewing of computer screen materials
- Hearing and speaking to exchange information and to work with students, staff, administration, and families in person and on the telephone
- Seeing to read and write, exchange emails, conduct work, prepare documents and evaluate student work
- Lifting light objects up to 25 pounds and ability to manage and maneuver teaching materials, manuals, and other resources
