Knappa School District Astoria, Oregon Position: Superintendent/Principal Location: Near Astoria, Oregon Base Salary: $95,000 to $105,000 plus benefits Closing Date: May 11, 2015 (or until filled) Start Date: July 1, 2015 Knappa School District is seeking a leader with an outstanding record in the field of education to serve as Superintendent/Principal beginning July 1, 2015. The Board anticipates a base salary in the range of $95,000 to $105,000 plus benefits and PERS pickup. • Approximately 480 students • Schools: o Hilda Lahti Elementary (grades K-8) o Knappa High School (grades 9-12) Knappa School District is located in a rural setting along Highway 30 just 12 miles east of Astoria and 90 miles from Portland. The district serves the unincorporated communities of Knappa, Svensen, Brownsmead, and Burnside. The district takes pride in being able to offer a high quality education regardless of its rural setting. In 2001, the community passed a bond measure to upgrade the district’s schools. The Knappa School’s Foundation has raised over $1,000,000 to support student scholarships and mini-grants for innovative projects in the classroom. The community is family oriented and represents about 2000 citizens. The area has long been noted as a fishing and forest products center. Georgia-Pacific’s Wauna Mill is located within district boundaries and employs approximately 1000 area residents.
