Napa Valley Unified School District has a 1.0 F.T.E. open position for an Assistant Principal at Harvest Middle School. If you wish to be considered for the Redwood position you must submit your application to that specific posting.
The Assistant Principal is directly responsible to the School Principal and serves as a member of the Instructional Leadership Team. The candidate should be familiar with and willing to develop a greater knowledge of our site’s initiatives. Harvest Middle School is an English/Spanish language acquisition school with a focus on inquiry-based learning and a commitment to the implementation of the International Baccalaureate Middle Years Program. Programs at Harvest Middle School also include full implementation of Professional Learning Communities, Response to Intervention, Positive Behavior Interventions and Support, and AVID. The successful candidate will be expected to work with the Leadership Team to develop and manage a plan to support the successful implementation of these initiatives.
The candidate must have knowledge of adolescent development, experience working with adolescents and a deep commitment to doing whatever it takes to help students learn. The candidate must have a working knowledge of state laws as they relate to student discipline, special education and general education. The candidate is responsible to maintain records essential to the proper administration of the school; provide supervision; and consult with students, parents and teachers in matters of student welfare, discipline and attendance. The candidate must have experience or be willing to learn how to supervise and evaluate certificated staff as well as classified staff.
Standard District Qualifications: Possession of a valid credential authorizing administrative services and a California teaching credential. A minimum of five years successful teaching experience is preferable. Possession of a CLAD certificate or an emergency CLAD permit required.
