Under the direction of the Associate Executive Director, the Program Director II – Preschool (Interim) will be responsible for the ongoing development and operation of the Magdalena Ecke Family YMCA Preschool. This position requires excellent skills and experience in preschool behavior management, quality assurance, organization, supervision, planning, promotion, fiscal management, problem solving, public relations related to Preschool department. Qualifications Bachelor’s degree in Early Childhood Education or related field required; must have at least 12 units in Early Childhood Education and 3 units in Early Childhood Program Administration. Program Director or Site Supervisor permit issued by the California Commission on Teacher Credential strongly desired. Five years’ experience managing large childcare programs in a supervisory role and seven years’ experience working directly with children in an organized childcare setting. Knowledge and expertise in child care programming. A thorough knowledge of child development and NAEYC standards. Working knowledge of play based learning. Ability to meet and maintain California State Childcare Licensing requirements (Title 22) The ability to give leadership to ensure staff education using behavior management. Exceptionally high skill level in organization, planning and implementation of administrative procedures and written and oral communication. Knowledge of licensed childcare programs. Proven supervisory skills in hiring, training, evaluating and motivating staff and volunteers. Computer experience required, including, Word, Excel and Outlook. Visual and auditory ability to respond to critical incidents and the physical ability to act swiftly in an emergency situation. Ability to adequately observe participant activities, enforce safety regulations, and apply appropriate policies and procedures. Current Pediatric CPR, AED and First Aid certification obtained within 30 days of hire. The individual chosen will have initiative, enthusiasm and an understanding of and commitment to the goals of the Magdalena Ecke Family YMCA. Major Functions Oversees the operation of the Magdalena Ecke Family YMCA Preschool to meet budgeted objectives and state licensing requirements Responsible for the planning and development of the Magdalena Ecke Preschool, ensuring quality and participant satisfaction Hire, train, develop and supervise full time and part time staff working within the Preschool Department. Responsible in the oversight of the annual budget of $1.5 million for the preschool department Monitors and controls daily income data, expense reports and invoices related to department Effectively plans all components of the position, which is productive and ensures that the department goals are accomplished in an effective manner Contributes to the overall success of the Magdalena Ecke Family YMCA Preschool by ensuring that the facility maintenance and risk management systems are upheld, effective use of office systems are used and meeting all deadlines in a timely manner Work closely and cooperatively with the other Directors to ensure program excellence in all areas of programming and administration About the Magdalena Ecke Family YMCA: One of the largest branches of the YMCA of San Diego County, the Magdalena Ecke Family YMCA encompasses 20 acres in Encinitas and ranks in the top two percent nationally.
