Primary Purpose:
The incumbent is to create a creative, fun, and engaging learning environment to our students; to establish effective rapport with students; to motivate and encourage students to develop fundamental skills and fulfill their academic potential; serve as a role model and collaborate with other teachers, staff and administrator addressing classroom issues.

Length of Assignment:
Minimum 3 month work period; must able to commit to work the whole Summer School Program.
Essential Job Functions:
- Teaches in a classroom, utilizing course of study adopted by the California State Standards
- Instructs students in citizenship and communication skills to achieve a functional learning environment
- Create an environment that fosters learning and personal growth
- Plan, prepare, and deliver re-teaching lesson plans and activities
- Use technology to support and differentiate instruction
- Maintain confidentiality regarding academy’s matters
- Identify student’s strength and needs; address student’s needs while cooperating with Excelsius Academy’s Administrators
- Evaluate student academic and social growth; keep appropriate records, prepares progress reports and communicate with the principal and administers regarding student’s progress
- Supervises student’s during break and in out-of-classroom activities during assigned work days
- Participate in parent teacher conferences if necessary to discuss student behavior, strengths, and room for improvements
Minimum Qualifications:
Education:
Bachelor’s degree required; Master’s degree preferred
Credential:
Substitute Teaching Permit, Emergency Teaching Permit, CBEST, or an appropriate, valid, California State Teaching Credential preferred.
Experience:
A minimum of 1 year supervised teaching/tutoring experience. Experience may be substituted through enrollment of an accredited credential program.
