This individual will create and implement a well-defined communications structure with a three-pronged approach to public relations: strategic communications, community engagement and broadcast operations. Develops and maintains positive working relationships with the news media based on honest and open communication. Providing media training for senior level staff, managing editorial boards, spokesperson at public forums, and internship recruiting and training. Overseeing the operation of the news desk by ensuring that the news desk provides appropriate and timely answers to reporters’ questions and maintains a record of media contacts. Responsible for the development, execution and training of a unified Crisis Communication plan for any incident that may affect the Fresno Unified School District. Establish and maintain effective working relationship with Fresno Unified’s Security officer. Organize a successful grassroots operation to engage civic, religious, and union leaders on a variety of programs offered by Fresno Unified School District. Establish successful partnerships with companies/organizations in the region for support with community initiatives and educational opportunities for students/educators. Overseeing the development, writing, and production of any documents necessary to sharing information externally or internally. This covers press releases, background papers, fact sheets, question-and-answer documents, and high-level speeches. Assures that imagery and video products are captured, processed, collected, and distributed in a timely manner. Manages the development of public service campaigns, video documentation, special productions and remote live interview feeds.
