Human Resources Coordinator

Salary Range: $60-70k annually

POSITION SUMMARY

 

Managerial work involved in planning, developing, implementing and coordinating employment activities.  Administers the development and implementation of programs, policies and procedures, as well as the coordination of staff, for accomplishing human resources goals and objectives.  Contacts are primarily with department heads and managers to communicate information and offer assistance in answering questions or resolving complaints.    Frequent contacts occur with employees at all levels of the organization

 

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

 

  • Maintains the work structure by updating job requirements and job descriptions for all positions.
  • Maintains organization staff by establishing a recruiting, testing, and interviewing program; counseling managers on candidate selection; conducting and analyzing exit interviews; recommending changes.
  • Prepares employees for assignments by establishing and conducting orientation and training programs.
  • Maintains a pay plan by conducting periodic pay surveys; scheduling and conducting job evaluations; preparing pay budgets; monitoring and scheduling individual pay actions; recommending, planning, and implementing pay structure revisions.
  • Ensures planning, monitoring, and appraisal of employee work results by training managers to coach and discipline employees; scheduling management conferences with employees; hearing and resolving employee grievances; counseling employees and supervisors.
  • Maintains employee benefits programs and informs employees of benefits by studying and assessing benefit needs and trends; recommending benefit programs to management; directing the processing of benefit claims; obtaining and evaluating benefit contract bids; awarding benefit contracts; designing and conducting educational programs on benefit programs.
  • Ensures legal compliance by monitoring and implementing applicable human resource federal and state requirements; conducting investigations; maintaining records; representing the organization at hearings.
  • Maintains management guidelines by preparing, updating, and recommending human resource policies and procedures.
  • Maintains historical human resource records by designing a filing and retrieval system; keeping past and current records.
  • Maintains professional and technical knowledge by attending educational workshops; reviewing professional publications; establishing personal networks; participating in professional societies.
  • Completes human resources operational requirements by scheduling and assigning employees; following up on work results.
  • Maintains human resources staff by recruiting, selecting, orienting, and training employees.
  • Maintains human resources staff job results by counseling and disciplining employees; planning, monitoring, and appraising job results.
  • Contributes to team effort by accomplishing related results as needed.
  • Ensures timely processing of workers’ compensation claims; unemployment, and short-term disability claims; ensures company is in compliance with applicable laws and regulations.            
  • Maintains good public relations status with various organizations (e.g. staffing agencies, independent contractor, and compliance agencies) regarding personnel functions.
  • Maintains appropriate level of confidentiality of information processed.
  • Follows company policies and procedures.
  • Performs related duties as required. ADDITIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES:

 

  • Oversees general liability for SEA Inc., and SEA Charter.
  • Handles all aspects of the credential process for SEA Charter teachers.

 

QUALIFICATIONS

Education and Experience:

 

Any combination of experience and education likely to provide the required knowledge, skills, and abilities, typically:

 

  • A Bachelor degree in related field and minimum of three years of experience
  • High school diploma and five to seven years HR Coordinating experience

 

Skills, Knowledge, and Abilities:

 

Knowledge of:

  • State and federal labor and benefit laws.
  • Wage and salary calculations.
  • Human Resources management.
  • Employee relations practices.
  • Recruitment methods.
  • Thorough knowledge of the principles and practices of personnel administration.
  • Knowledge of court decisions concerning important EEO cases, of current major issues and trends in EEO legislation, and of guidelines and policies.

 

Skills and Abilities:

  • Analyze and resolve problems independently, recommend/implement resolution.
  • Ability to organize and analyze statistical data and prepare comprehensive reports, as required.
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with managers, employees and agency representatives, as well as outside vendors.
  • Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing.
  • Ability to attend meetings or perform other assignments at locations outside the office, if necessary.
