Job Description / Essential Elements: Print

Francophone Charter School of Oakland is seeking to add energetic and positive teachers to its teaching team. We have positions for 2 Francophone teachers and 1 Anglophone teacher for the 2016-2017 school year. Francophone teachers must be native or near-native in French. Anglophone teachers should be native English speakers.

The mission of the Francophone Charter School of Oakland is to provide a dual-immersion curriculum in French and in English to a diverse community of students. Our goal is to develop bilingual and bi-literate global citizens who are open-minded and value intellectual curiosity, personal integrity and creativity. We are a new charter school and currently have students in grades TK-3rd. We will have grades TK-4th in 2016-17 and will continue expanding one grade per year until we reach 8th grade.

All Francophone Charter School of Oakland teachers will have a passion for bilingualism and an enthusiasm for the dual French/English language model of the school. We know it is essential for teachers to have native-like fluency in any language in which they teach, and we are seeking this in our candidates. A prior experience in a bilingual or language immersion school or program will be greatly appreciated, but we are open to having our campus be the first bilingual education experience for highly-skilled, dynamic elementary teachers who believe in our mission and vision. We are especially interested in candidates who can contribute to the excellence of the academic community through their research, teaching and/or service.

Every teacher must have a growth mindset and be open to continuous professional improvement, and all teachers must be willing to embrace the professional development offered that is necessary to create a cohesive campus that realizes the educational and cultural mission/vision/principles of Francophone Charter School of Oakland.

Candidates must have a valid California teaching credential prior to the first day of school.

Please complete the online application and attach a cover letter, resume and evidence of teaching credential. For more information, visit our website (www.francophoneschool.org) or contact jobs@francophoneschool.org.

Francophone Charter School of Oakland, as an equal opportunity employer, does not discriminate in its hiring of employees on the basis of race, color, sex, sexual orientation, religion, creed, national origin, citizenship, marital or veteran status, age, or disability.

All candidates are encouraged to apply.
